New Treatments Are Showing Improvements

Recent clinical trials have just proven that high-dose immunosuppressive therapy combined with the transplantation of a person’s blood stem cells can actually induce the remission of multiple sclerosis. multiple sclerosis is a disease that causes the immune system to attack the central nervous system.


69% of trial patients who had received the treatment five years prior had survived without any progression of their disease, experiencing any new brain lesions, or having a relapse of MS symptoms. These participants did not take nay MS medications after receiving the therapy and other MS drugs have had lower success rates.


This trial, which was sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and was conducted by the NIAID Immune Tolerance Network. It has been found that the results were quite encouraging.


Symptoms of MS can include speech and motor difficulties, fatigue, weakness, and even chronic pain. Relapsing-remitting MS is the most common form and is interspersed with flare-ups from symptoms and even relapses. The disease tends to worsen over the years.


The experimental treatments of HDIT/HCT were tested on people between the ages of 26 to 52. The treatment improved some of the symptoms in some of the volunteers.


The HDIT/HCT may be an effective solution for patients suffering form relapsing-remitting MS but further studies need to be conducted in order to fully understand the effects this therapy will have.

Besides, these subpoenas were also quite invalid as Wilenchik had not even consulted a grand jury.

The Maricopa County settled this case in 2013 by paying them $3.75 million as the settlement. The money was used by Michael and Jim to establish the Frontera Fund. It is designed to assist the Hispanic community that is based in Phoenix. Besides, it supports several other organizations that are fighting for the civil rights of immigrants.
